Japan Alert App Reviews

I have been using this app for years. It has only one shortcoming. Being able to set the alert threshold based on the Richter scale is good so that you are not alerted by every little tremor. However, if the alert threshold could also be based on the Shindo scale, I would rate this at 5 stars. For example, with the app, you can set an alert to notify you if the event reached Richter scale 4 or higher. However, the Shindo scale may only be a 1. In this case, no need for an alert. Ideally, the app could allow for notification if the event reaches Richter scale 5 and/or Shindo scale 3.

Keep on loosing history whenever checking tsunamis alerts or changing alert threshold. Want my money back!

Because I am dating a Japanese woman I am now very concerned about what the conditions in Japan. Having this app. allows both my partner and I a feeling of knowing first hand what is happening with her family and friends back home. I wish that there was a connection with this app. to the up to minute conditions here in Vancouver B.C. Canada as well. This app. works very well and is a great tool in emergency responsiveness for anyone living in a quake zone. I would highly recommend it to everyone because it makes you become very aware of the world around us.

I have two kids in Japan, and this App helps inform me of when/where earthquakes are happening! Its exactly what I was looking for!

This is the best quake alert app I have seen for Japan. Its a must to have.

Sometimes when refreshing or opening after a popup message, app freezes, or when changing the screen. And, once i am in Japan and it is about japanese eartquakes, the setting could be based on japanese method (shindo). Thanks!

Super late its useless .....plsss upgrade this i really rely on this ???onegaishimasu....

I think it should be upgraded because at present the alert comes much later than the earthquake related news on NHK (about 8-10minutes). This gap could represent the difference between staying alive and dying in case of major earthquake. We need whenever it is possible to receive on the phone the alert in time for protecting our body before an earthquake hits. NHK has already this system working on TV, I hope it will soon be available on the phone too, since it could save lives...

Nice app but very slow to warn As has been stated cant be relied on as a safety device sadly Not sure if its possible but with earlier warnings would be 5 stars

Too bad it doesnt have the same time sensitivity as the NHK Earthquake alerts because the alerts come close to 10 minutes after the actual quake!!!!

For anyone thinking of buying this app as an earthquake warning app, dont bother. The "alerts" ALWAYS come 5-10 minutes AFTER the quake happened. However.... If you are thinking of buying it just for information about earthquakes it is a wonderful app. Lots of information on location, depth, strength and so on.

Ive found this very helpful and accurate. It often beeps before Yurekuru which is supposed to warn us when a quake is coming. But often they are both late. Anyway, I use both of them but check Japan Alert more often.

This app somehow disappointed. The alarm always came late like 10 mins or so... I would probably die first before my alarm will show its glory.;(

Useful to see detail of recent earthquakes in Japan.

For those that are residing or touring Japan, I highly recommend getting this app - very accurate and helpful.
